Quixborder is a simple border control application. It is a part of the PROTECT project (link mentioned at the end).
A research project has been set up as part of the EU Horizon 2020 program with the following goals:
* A most fluent non-intrusive control process is desired
* Optimization of the use of current biometric modalities
* Exploration of new biometric modalities at borders
* Improve accuracy and reliability of person verification
* Embrace the related ethical, societal and data protection aspects
PROTECT tries to achieve the goals mentioned above. It is a 3-year EC H2020 project funded under the Secure Societies work-program and which commenced on September 1st 2016. The main aim of PROTECT is to build an advanced bio-metric based person identification system that works robustly across a range of border crossing types and that has strong user-eccentric features.
Quixborder is a part of this project that deals with storing the encrypted bio-metric and biographic data of a traveler on the smartphone. It stores traveler's data in an encrypted format and can be used at BorderControl-Area for traveler's bio-metric verification during border crossing. The application will be running on the smartphone which will help in fulfilling the purpose of Smartphone as an encrypted data carrier. The data will be stored and read from the smartphone with the help of this application. The data is only stored on the traveler's smartphone and no where else. The stored data will be completely encrypted, in control of the traveler and reset or deleted as per the traveler's wish.
The app has a manual activation feature without which it cannot function. The app has to be manually activated by the admin before it can be used. Once the app is installed, it registers itself on our server. It then tells to provide information shown on screen to solutions.veridos@gmail.com. Contact details have also to be submitted for admin to contact and verify the authenticity of use.
